How To Change Wireless Router Settings?

A wireless network connection could be the best way to share the network with multiple devices. For using the connection, a user just needs to set up the router, visit Router Configuration Page to configure it and all is set to use the route. After creating the wireless connection, a user may want to login to the administrative panel of the router to change the wireless router settings. This can help in performance optimization and secure wireless connectivity.

Change the Wireless Router Settings:

  • Get connected to the network by using the wireless router and click on the ‘Start’ option. Click on the Run and type ‘command’ and click on the Ok option.
  •  Now, you have to type the ‘ipconfig’ in the command prompt and hit the ‘Enter’ button.
  •  Record the number listed as your ‘Default Gateway’. It is something similar to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
  • After this, you need to open a web browser and enter the number you have recorded in the aforementioned step into the address bar. Hit the ‘Enter’ button and a log-on prompt will be prompted.
  •  You need to enter the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’. After that, click on the Ok button and hit the ‘Enter’ button. If you are unable to set up the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ for your account, these may be set as the factory default. You need to check the router manual for finding the default name and password.
  • Most of the time, the default username is ‘admin’ and default ‘password’ is password. Following this, you will be able to login to the router administrative panel where you can change the wireless settings of your router.
  • You need to alter the options present in the router manual and choose the ‘Save Changes’ option to save the changes. Each router will have different settings and menus though the common options involve security, password, and firewall settings.

These are simple instructions through which you can change the router settings. All the steps are very simple and easy to follow.
